Yes, they do work in a disc copy, just make sure it's patched to 1.2.0416 and then move the .esp files from your Steam download to your Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Data folder. and the .esm that's the money The disc copy does include Oblivion.esm lol, so technically all you need are the DLC files ;)

Should I just ignore this? or check it? 1. Extract the 1 file to a temporary location. 2. Examine the folder structure and make corrections where necessary. 3. Copy files to (install folder)\Oblivion\Data\ 4. Start OBMM or Wyre Bash and place a checkmark beside the .esp and .esm files to enable them. In this revised version all fixes and patches are already applied.

Missing .esm file - posted in Oblivion Technical Support: I had played this game before and was revisiting it. I reloaded it and it played fine. I started installing mods and then suddenly it crashed. I couldnt figure it out and finally resorted to uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. Now it crashes every time I start the game. After much anguish I found that I am missing the Oblivion Oblivion ESM/ESP Script Dumper v2.8 By: MofoMojo This application takes an ESM or ESP file and extracts/dumps all of the scripts in it to a \esmfilenameScripts directory in the location where the application is running. So, if the app is run against the oblivion.esm the scripts will be dumped to the \OblivionScripts directory. When I hit data files it gives me the option to check "DLCShivering Isles.esp" (player file) "knights.esp" (player file) "oblivion.esm (master file) The oblivion master file in unchecked and the game still runs properly, the other two have been checked.
